RevoopBot

RevoopBot is Revoop's price reader. Sellers who use Revoop add public pages of products like their own to price tracking; RevoopBot reads the price and stock on those pages and tells the seller when a price falls. It never changes prices and takes no action on your site.

How to recognise it

RevoopBot sends its requests with this User-Agent:

`RevoopBot/1.0 (+https://revoop.site/bot)`

Requests come through Cloudflare's network.

What it reads

  • Only public product pages a seller has added to price tracking. It does not crawl the site or follow links.
  • From the page's structured data (schema.org, Open Graph) it takes only the product name, price, currency, stock and barcode. It takes no images, descriptions, reviews or personal data.
  • It never opens pages behind a login, fills forms or adds items to a basket.

How it treats your site

  • Before reading, it follows the rules your robots.txt sets for RevoopBot, or else for everyone (`*`). It reads the file again once a day.
  • If your robots.txt cannot be read (a server error or a refused request), it reads nothing from your site and tries again later.
  • It sends at most one request every 10 seconds to a site, or follows a longer `Crawl-delay` in your robots.txt.
  • It does not download a page again when it has not changed (`If-None-Match`, `If-Modified-Since`).
  • When your site refuses a request (429, 403, 503 or a challenge page), it stops at once and waits an hour, then a day, then a week. It follows `Retry-After`.
  • It never tries to get past bot protection, challenge pages or access limits.
  • It does not read sites whose terms forbid automated reading.

Leaving your site out

Add this to your robots.txt; reading stops within a day:

To close only some sections, put their paths on the `Disallow` line. You can also write your site's name to [email protected] and we leave it out by hand.
